2014 Campo Arriba, Yeda Spain
70% Monastrell, 20% Syrah, 10% Garnacha Tintorera
Mostly Mourvedre with 10% Garnacha Tintorera that appears to be another name for Alicante Bouschet. Tricky wine, pretty ripe, yet still highly acidic. Dark ruby red in color. Nose showing saddle leather, red and black fruits and brown spices. Medium to full body, some slightly drying tannins that mostly resolve by the finish. Dark cocoa, dark red cherry, some minerality. Selling at Costco by the truck full. It has a Robert Parker Wine Advocate score of 93 displayed prominently right on the bottle. Could be a little high but for $8.99 this is an amazing value. It is even reasonably complex.
