Not much details but more of a thumbs up/down type of note.

2017 Carol Shelton Monga Zinfandel - The characteristic hint of eucalyptus (makes me long for Carlisle's Gum Tree Ranch) leads to nicely balancef fruit and acidity. A relative steal in the low $20's.

2016 (?) Kirkland (Costco) Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - $14. A really great deal for an inexpensive Cab. It actually tastes like Cabernet with good fruit and some tannins that should let it age for a few years. A definite re-buy.

A Note
After drinking down the cellar before moving to Virginia we're building it back up by buying more on the $20 end, cutting way back on $30 to $50 and going for a few more higher price wines. The periodic trips to Costco are interesting as Maryland does not allow wine to be sold there. The local one has 2010 Ganage for only $500.

I met Carol at a wine event a year ago. She is very passionate about Sonoma zin. She invited me to the winery and I took her up on it a month ago. It is located in the same business park as Siduri in Santa Rosa. The wines were all well made and affordable as you note. She recently got her entry level wines (white and red) into Costco, so that should pay the bills.

I've been slacking, too.

We visited the tasting room in 2018 and were pleasantLay surprised. An easy case buy for the lower end of the wine budget. The white Rhone blend was nice but lacked body and acidity for our tastes.

No we don’t. We quickly replenished the cellar upon drinking/buying Virginia wines but had to back off a bunch. Accumulated too many without having any idea how they age. But Boyce mentioned that he thought the reds aged fine and actually improved if I remember correctly.
