Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Geyserville Alexander Valley Sonoma Valley Ca. 2006

Absolutely no bricking on the rim and a core of plum; it has all the appearance of a youthful wine. A rich nose of rhubarb, balsamic, zin funk and brown sugar, but it smell a bit hot. The youthfulness of the wine shows on the palate: bright and youthful with tannins not yet fully integrated. Although the palate tracks the bouquet the most interesting aspect is the appearance of rose hips on the finish. Other than that, the wine is a bit linear and a bit jammy. Nothing other to write home about. For a Geyserville, that’s not what I expect. Some slight sediment. A blend of 70% Zin, 18% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and 2% Mataro. 14.6% alc. With truffle, Roaring 40s and Tunworth cheeses and rustic rye bread. 10.20.18. Recommended.
