Filmy and opaque purple core, steady glow in the dark magenta rims. Rich, fruity nose of vanilla custard, butterscotch, caramel as well as plum, cassis, cherry fruit, that noted it has a rough texture with alcohol showing, slightly earthy but in the end it's a two trick pony, fruit and oak. Full-bodied, marred by notes of warm rubber. Initially dusty mouth feel soaked by layers of plum/prune, cherry compote and blueberry jam. Tops this off with cocoa, chocolate with caramel tones. Finishes with elevating tar, leather and damp black earth. Big and was likely bigger on release, leans mightily on the fruit. 36% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 27% Mourvèdre, 5% Tannat, 4% Counoise.
