2007 Copain Syrah Garys' Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands

Meaty, lavender nose. Intense dark fruits on the palate. On first opening, it is just a block of big fruit. That changes as it gets time to air and warm up a bit. The fruit takes on a more elegant note. Blackberries, roast meat, pepper. Firm tannins, nice acidity and balance. The fruit carries across the palate. Moderate finish of soft dark fruit and bright acidity. No signs of fading yet, but I'd drink over the next 4 or 5 years. B+
