Ridge Zin Oltranti MazzoniHomeRanch/SonomaCnty (88% Zin/10% Carignane/2% PS; 15.1%; 26 brls; Plntd: 1998; 2'nd vintage; Drk: 3/19-3/26: EB; 4% water addition, tartaric acid) 2017: Med.dark color; very strong vanilla/Am.oak strong raspberry/Zin/lightly spicy bit earthy pleasant/simple nose; very tart/tangy bit lean bit alcoholic strong raspberry/Zin/lightly spicy strong Am.oak/vanilla light earthy simple berry flavor w/ light tangy tannins; med.long rather tart/tangy strong Am.oak/vanilla bright/raspberry/Zin/lightly spicy bit earthy finish w/ light tannins; loads of Am.oak w/ pleasant raspberry fruit; one small step above the Ridge EastBench; a thoroughly undistinguished/boring Ridge Zin. $36.00 (ATP)

1. This is apparently a new block planted by the Oltrantis on the Mazzoni Home Ranch; the first was made in 2005. This is only the 2'nd Oltranti. My reaction was why bother?
