Forlorn-Hope Pineau d'Aunis RorickHeritageVnyd/CalaverasCnty/SierraFoothills (12.62) Morphys 2020: Med.light garnet some bricked color; very fragrant floral/cherry/Pinotish some earthy/bit loamy rather Loire-like/earthy quite dusty very attractive nose; quite tart/tangy lightish rather earthy/loamy/dusty some cherry/Pinotish quite pretty lightweight flavor w/ light tannins; very long rather earthy/dusty/bit loamy some cherry/Pinotish finish w/ light tannins; quite light/fragrant more like a Rose than anything but a quite pretty/fragrant red w/ slight earthy/Loire character.

Dom. de Belliviere Rouge-Gorge AC: Coteaux du Loir Rouge (14%; Pineau d'Aunis; LouisDressner/NY) Eric & Clement Nicolas/l'Homme 2020: Med.dark color; slight bretty quite earthy/loamy/dusty bit herbal deeper quite Loire/Pinotish mquite peppery/black pepper almost CabFranc-like fairly intense nose; quite tart/tangy quite earthy/loamy/dusty/herbal bit perfumed/Pinotish/cherry/black cherry bit peppery flavor w/ some hard tannins; very long fairly tart/tangy strong herbal/earthy/loamy/Loire pretty cherry/Pinotish finish w/ light hard tannins; needs 2-5 yrs of age; lots of loamy/earthy Loire character some like CabFranc but rather lighter in character. $34.00 (SFW&S)

1. Pd'A is a variety grown almost exclusively in the Loire around Vouvray/Anjou. Thought to have originated in the Vendee region of Southern France & brought up the Coast to the Loire. It is also knowd as Chenin Noir.
Matt's Pd'A is the only one made in Calif to my knowledge.
