Headed through Santa Barbara Friday on a family trip. Unfortunately, don't have time to hit any tasting rooms but hoping to get away for a bit to make a buying run.

If you had to pick one place to pick up some good local stuff, where would it be? Winehound? Lazy Acres?

Appreciate the advice!

You mentioned the two I would have suggested.

Thanks! How about down your way? I drop my son off at University of San Diego Sunday before heading back to AZ.

Second the recommendation on Lazy Acres - they always have a great selection there.

Honestly, it's getting a little meager in San Diego.

Are you driving here? Because there are a ton of killer shops in Orange County and Los Angeles.

San Diego is better for beer.

The Winehound was started by the former wine guy at Lazy Acres (Bob Wesley). I haven't been there, yet (haven't been to Santa Barbara much since it opened), but it's definitely on my list.

Last time I shopped in SantaBarbara a yr ago, I thought the WineHound was the store to shop. It seemed to me that LazyAcres had slipped a bit since Bob left there; though it's still pretty good.

Ahhh...didn't realize that Bob had left Lazy Acres and started his own place. Shows how long it's been since I've been there.

he left lazy 5 years? ago. if you are driving wades has a lot of central coast stuff. bernards is also on the way up to SB. i'd just go to jaffurs. it's in the city and all their wines are solid.

Thank you all for the suggestions! Really enjoyed my visit to Winehound.

Picked up some Palmina Rose', DiBruno Sangiovese, Alta Maria Pinot, Andrew Murray Syrah, Stolpman Grenache and Hitching Post Cab Franc- Merlot.

Hope to get back there soon.

Thanks again.
