Struzziero Taurasi Riserva 1985

12 % Imported by De Rosa Imports, D.C.

50 to 60 year old vines from the hills of Avellino. There weren't too many Taurasi producers in 1985.

This was a little too lean and simple for me. It went well with rich food and the bouquet was very nice, like a barolo. There was a lot of acid and not much structure. The fruit never appeared.

JFO really liked this wine but that was a long time ago (use the Forum's search function). Maybe it just wasn't built to age but I'm surprised that a Riserva Taurasi with 32 years wouldn't be a little more fun. I've got another bottle so let's see if it shows more Riserva like.

Thanks
