Azienda Vinicola Rue' Barolo 1974

13% 720ml

The label mentions Badella Vini as the bottler. Montaldo Scarampi appears to the proprietor of the winery. Never heard of either.

The Rue' vineyard is famous for being a part of Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo. There appears to be only one producer making it as a single vineyard - Angelo Germano.

"classic, very poignant, very Barolo-commune-like. Chalky and chewy. Acidic. Fragrant rose. Deep nose. Complex rich deep nose. Very nice wine. Warm, smooth and balanced. Reminds me of Cerequio somehow. Savory and feminine"

Day Two:

"beautiful rose, black cherry nose. Friendly on the palate with a little tannic finish. Savory and chalky. Epically persistent from start to finish. Tobacco and cinnamon"

Not a blockbuster but like a really good friend who comes to visit and is comforting. Very nice wine. Recommended. Will last for awhile but won't improve. Decanted one hour. Very nice with Marcella Hazan's Filetto di Manzo in Tegame.

Thanks
Fraser
