TN: 2017 Santa Rita Carmenere, 2017 Hero's Blend. - 03-13-2018 09:06:26
Ciao,
Two tasty values we sell in the store for $5.99 are the 2017 Santa Rita Carmenere, and their 2017 "Hero's Blend" (65% Cab Franc, 25% Carmenere, and 10% Cabernet).
The Carm has the tell-tale plumminess that I love in these wines, plus a juicy acidity that makes it very versatile with food. It also holds up well for several nights. Grade: solid B and a big QPR.
The Hero's Blend has the herbalness of the Cab Franc with the plummy notes of the Carm, also has good acidity and goes well with most all my everyday meals. Hard to beat for the price. Grade: solid B and excellent QPR.
Some 1.5L wines that I have bought lately that I thought were good values and worth trying if you are on a budget or need a party wine: 2016 Lindeman's Chardonnay ($7.99), 2017 Frontera Sauvignon Blanc ($8.99), and 2016 Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio ($9.99).
