1. The Mayacamas LateHrvst Zin '68 was a legend in its time and was widely regarded as the "first" LH Zin. Maybe the first to be labeled as such, but both Ridge and DavidBruce produced 15%+ Zins in '68. This first LH Mayacamas came from a NapaVlly vnyd of which I never knew the name. In the next several yrs ('70??, '72, '74) they came from Kay & Ed Baldinelli's ShenandoahVlly vnyd. Not sure what vnyd this '84 came from.
This was much better than I expected it to be and not going over-the-hill yet, with plenty of ripe Zin fruit. Rather porty on its own, but wonderful with the DeerCreek creamy BlueJay blue cheese infused w/ juniper berries; an amazingly good domestic blue.
