Thomas Labaille l’Authentique Sancerre Loire 2016
Pale salmon in color; rather inviting to the eye. More melon than berry and more spice than anise with a finish of more earth than chalk. A bit more rustic than I anticipated from this house. With several more in the summer drinking queue, we’ll see how they develop. 13% alc. With roasted chicken thighs/quarters with a purchased mustard-barbeque sauce. 05.31.18. Recommended, but with a tilt toward “with Reservations”.
Domaine Georges Vernay Le Temps des Serines vine de Pays des Collines Rhodannienne Rhone 2016
Fromboise is the color, the nose and the palate. A bit of strawberry comes through, but fromboise dominates. Nothing interesting or intense. It tastes like a top producer simply trying to add to the bottom line. 12.8% alc. With cheeses and crackers. Very good with the Alpine blossom/floral cheese. 04.14.18. Recommended.
Limerick Lane Cellars Rosé Russian River Valley Sonoma Co., Ca. 2017
A true rosé. The look of bronze and peach and the smell and taste of peach with herbs and mineral. One incredibly drinkable and satisfying rosé. A blend of 62% Syrah and 38% Grenache. 12.7% alc. With grilled sausages and blue grits in a tomato and onion ragout. 05.2018. Recommended.
