2009 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Just a beautiful wine. Hate on Napa Cab all you want (and there are a lot of cookie cutter cabs out there that deserve the hate), when a wine like this hits, it is a revelation. Sweet red fruit on the lovely nose, currants. Bright, plush fruit but not flabby at all on the palate, Cherries, currants, bit of semi-sweet chocolate. Firm, polished tannins, bright acidity, beautiful balance. Long finish of lovely red fruits and a bit of pepper. As good as it is now, it will only get better over the next 5 to 10 years, developing additional secondary flavors. Pat and I were reaching for another pour when we sadly realized the bottle was empty. Great wine. "A+"

Wow! There's a name we don't hear about much these days. I used to come across their wines but haven't seen any for a long while. Thanks for the TN.

Their Sauvignon Blanc is also excellent.

I agree that their Sauv Blanc is excellent, but it has become a bit pricey for what it is. The Cab ain't cheap, but it is one the few that is worth the tariff.
