I think his analogy of terroir w/ walking thru a forest is particularly apt. He talks a lot about how various winemakers go about best expressing the terroir of a particular vnyd.
I like his conclusion:
Yoikes....I'm throwing up my hands in ever understanding terroir. Way above my pay-grade...I ain't a rocket scientist, after all.

There is no single way to best express the terroir of any vineyard. No wine is a concrete expression that tells the whole story. And, even if this were the ideal, it would impossible for multiple winemakers to reflect terroir in exactly the same way.
