You are very welcome, Bryan, I appreciate it.
One "new discovery" (i.e., I never had the wine before) this trip was the 2001 Corbin (St. Emilion) I had with lunch on Sunday the 17th June. My host opened one for me to try, telling me his long-time friend made the wine. It's texture and flavors were quite nice, and, considering its very reasonable price, I told him I'd likely buy some.
That evening, at a dinner, I was introduced to the owner of the chateau, Anabelle Cruise-Bardinet, and her husband, Sebastian, who were both at the same table as I. Anabelle is an absolute knockout, and Sebastian (whose family, I understand, owns Chateau Laroque which I visited briefly last year) is one of the most amiable and friendly French fellows I have ever met (he was also one of the few who made sure to speak in English around me). This made me decide to definitely order some of the Corbin - both the 2000 and 2001.
Unfortunately, it turns out that it is not that easy to buy in the US as Corbin does not have a large production to begin with, plus a lot of it goes to Belgium and the the UK.
Oh well....if you find any of the 2001, you might want to try it. Should be under $40 if I'm not mistaken.
