Article One I particularly liked the measured comments by Thomas Keller, but more closely align with the sentiment expressed by Casey Thompson ("It sucks. You can quote me. How about this. Here's a $50 salad. Enjoy your foie gras."). Article Two A quick-scan around the room by the end of the meal, and I spotted Dishman wiping his brow, a gentleman sitting on his hands, and a woman leaning far back into her chair, hands laying right a-top her abdomen ...

I'm kind of glad all those politically correct, self-righteous assholes can't enjoy foie gras in California now. Suck it.
The chickens are coming home to roost.....

Michael Chiarello comes back swinging: "I've been to every foie gras farm that I know in Northern California," said Chef Michael Chiarello in an interview with Eater. "I've also walked into a chicken farm where a million chicks are dead because some idiot mixed the chemical wrong in their feed. A million chicks dead in one fell swoop. The point is not foie gras, the point is boneless skinless [censored] chicken breast." I know it's kind of a "slippery slope" argument, but what's next on PETA's agenda? Once foie gras is banned, will they go after veal? Hopefully CA will come to its senses in a few years and lift the ban ala Chicago.

And this quote is worthy of an eye-rolling chuckle, Any time animals are used in profit-making industries, their welfare is not made a priority," "Profit-making" has nothing to do with PETA's agenda. They just use that skirt for hiding their true agenda, which is to force us all to be vegans. Besides, whether the enterprise is for profit or not, the emphasis is on raising a quality product for the welfare of human consumption, not the welfare of the animal. Should animals raised for food be humanely treated during their life and at their death? Absolutely! But they are not raised for their welfare. They are raised for our welfare.

Absolutely.
Then again, this is PETA and the state of California we're talking about. Common sense has no place in a discussion with those clowns.
Sometimes I'm very thankful to live in Kansas. I can't imagine PETA and their ilk ever catching on here.

So, you Left Coast guys are having foie wakes now, eh? The NYT covers it here. Come the 1st of July, I think I'll pull out Noel's recipe for foie and sit down with some nice Sauternes . . . Gotta love this quote: As for the ban on foie gras itself, “I think it’s really a way for people to feel like they’ve done something without doing anything,” [says Michael Pollan, the author of “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto,”]. “There’s so many more serious problems we’re not dealing with.”

Not really wakes, more like gluttonous blowouts.
