Terradora Dipaola Taurasi Fatica Contradina 2011

I ended up with this by accident as I stopped buying their wine after having numerous bottles of their more expensive Taurasi and finding it consistently lacking and overpriced.

This wine exceeded expectations considerably. This is a very strong, masculine wine full of all kinds of exciting flavors, including the familiar coffee one. This is a serious wine and impressive at the price. This would reward aging. It alternated between feeling like a traditional well-made Taurasi and an oaked international wine. Fun at first, the ending was less fun as the oak dominated. For the price, it would be nice to see where this was in 10 or 20 years. A wine that will pair easier with food than nebbiolo and might be a good intro to Italians wines for those new to it. A food wine for sure. Recommended.

Thanks
