Fratelli Barale Barbaresco 1988 Vigna Rabaja

I'm a big fan of Barale's Barbaresco. So far, I've liked it better than the Barolo. The 1995 Barbaresco was Riserva quality and very good. The 1985 Rabaja (thanks CJ) is one of my top wines ever. Evidently they sold or traded Rabaja for Serra Boella. The last Rabaja I've seen is 1993. From the back of the label - South facing, Michet variety and from approx. 1 Ha.

I've been seeing more and more that 1988 Barbaresco is currently drinking well so I was excited to try this.

"Very spicy nose + palate warmth. Very unified, serious ripe nose. Fir/rose/very fresh. Pine nose - crisp & fresh. Excellent wine. Sweet and smooth - very rose. Almost a rose bomb. Etched. Delicate but assertive. Delineated and precise. Acidic and semi-ripe. Semi-intense. Very nice"

Very good but not great wine, at peak. Did not improve in the glass. I didn't decant very long.

My wife made some outrageous duck leg confit + mushroom pasta. Restaurant quality. Went really well with the wine.
