2. Anas-Cetta ElvioCogno Dd'OC: Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello (100% Nascetta; 14%; WilsonDaniels/St.Helena) 2017: Deep gold color; very strong floral/gardenias rather melony/Chard-like some toasty/pencilly/Fr.oak rather ripe/lush quite fragrant nose; rather soft/rich/lush slight metallic/tangy very ripe/melony/Chard-like rather toasty/Fr.oak very ripe bit oafish flavor; very long rather soft/ripe/overripe lush/mouthfilling bit off-dry (?) strong melong/Chard-like some toasty/Fr.oak finish; not a particularly distinctive/interesting white & more like an overripe Chard than anything; a bit too much in an international style for me; this is how KernerRombauer would make Nascetta in the NapaVlly if he could; just a bit on the oafish side & not particular interesting or distinctive. $34.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Nascetta: This is an ancient grape of Novello that was rescued from oblivion by ElvioCogno & ValterFissore. Only allowed as a varietal in the commune of Novello, right next to Barolo. It is regarded by many as Piemonte's greatest white. Often made as a sweet wine in the past. No DNA apparently has been done on this grape, so unknown parentage.
_______________
2. Manzoni Bianco: This is a cross developed by Luigi Manzoni in the 1930 from Riesling X PinotBianco. Not often seen as a varietal wine. Thought the wine somewhat interesting, but only that.
