2005 David Coffaro Aca Modot
Ruby red, faintly translucent. Bright cherry and spice nose. On the palate there are cherries, plums, bit of cedar box. The fruit is still bright, a bit simple at this point but pleasant. Air and food bring out a peppery note. Soft tannins, nice acidity and balance. Finishes moderately long with red fruits. At 17 years on, this is fading but still very nice. I'd drink up in the 3 to 4 years. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon; 14 % Cabernet Franc; 14% Merlot; 8% Petite Verdot. "B+" but on a down slope.

Interesting, Charlie, that this is still hanging in there. Closure: cork/screw cap/Neo-corq??
The Aca Modot wine comes from a small hill on the back of the property that once housed an Indian settlement 100's of yrs ago. I've walked that vnyd w/ David. If you paw around in the soil, you can turn up poker chips and bits of roulette wheels from the Casino they had there!!
