Tried these two new KermitLynch arrivals over the weekend:
1. Maxime&Lucie Salharang ClosLarrouyat Meteore AC: Jurancon Sec WW (12.5%; 60% grosManseng/40% PetiteManseng; MeBaD; KermitLynchImprts/Berkeley) 2020: Med.light gold color; somewhat earthy some floral/carnations/root cellar slight herbal/Kansas hay mow bit phenolic/resinous fairly complex/interesting nose; quite tart/tangy/slight metallic bit resinous/phenolic some earthy/dusty lightly floral/marigolds/pungent slight herbal/musky bit coarse somewhat interesting/complex flavor; very long bit austere/coarse/rustic slight phenolic/resinous bit herbal/earthy slight floral/marigolds some tangy/metallic rather interesting finish; not a lot of bright fruit & a bit earthy/coarse but a somewhat interesting white; seems to have a slight bit of skin-contact; reminds a bit of young Semillon; bit pricey at $40.00 (AV)
2. Maxime&Lucie Salharang ClosLarrouyat Phoenix AC: Jurancon WW (12%; 100% PetitManseng; MeBaD) 2020: Med.dark gold color; intense grapey/passito light earthy/herbal slight caramel bit complex attractive nose; quite tart/tangy rather sweet (10%-12% r.s.) grapey/passito some earthy/herbal/dusty slight tangy/metallic no signs of botrytis a bit dull/simple flavor; very long fairly sweet quite grapey/passito some earthy/herbal finish; a mildly interesting dessert wine w/ not much fruit; a decent passito but overpriced; don't see a great future here for this wine. $39.00/500ml (KK)
More esterfiggle from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Both of these were mildly interesting but just that. I've had two Jurancon dessert wines over the last week that were far better than this one. Not likely to revisit this Estate.
