2019 Chateau Des Rontets Pouilly-Fuisse Clos Varambon

Yellow-gold color. Pears and peaches on the nose. Lovely fruit on the palate, stone fruits, honey, lemon. Minerals on the mid-palate with a slightly smokey note. Perfectly balanced acidity. Lovely oily quality. Long, graceful finish of peaches and apricots and spice. Drink next 5 to 8 years. "A-"

A note on the label: The photograph on the label was taken 20 years ago in Chateau des Rontets' Clos Varambon vineyard. Hundreds of nude adults joined hands across the vineyard rows for a promotional photo for the environmental nonprofit Greenpeace to draw attention to the magnitude of the climate crisis. The estate decided to use the photo on their label for this special 20th anniversary edition of the wine. I'd attach the photo but I don't want to get Tom Hill too excited.
