Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Santa Barbara Co., Ca. 2006

Yet another wine with a thin cranberry rim - every so thin that quickly turns to an opaque blood red core. It’s a tad alcoholic on the nose - and that doesn’t change from first to last pour. The nose and flavors are deep with cranberry, Asian 5 spice, black cherry licorice (?) (Yes, licorice) and teaberry. The mouthfeel is absolutely velvety, helped no doubt by the slightly out of balance alcohol. Yet the volume is only 13.9% alc. With pork tenderloin with cranberry sauce and blue cheese. 01.16.14. Recommended.
