Chateau Prieure-Lichine Margaux 1999

Will this wine ever come around?! In 2011 it began to show what it might really have under its hard exterior. Now, three years later, its reveals a little more, but not a lot more. With the tannins now finely knit, will the fruit survive the time it takes for the tertiary flavors to show in all of their fullness? Just now, after the initial attack of plum and maybe faint blackberry, elements of cigar, tobo smoke, earth and mint carry most of the profile. Resolved and bearing some silkiness, the wine still flashes a hard edge on the finish. Throwing some serious sediment just now. 12.5% alc. Bottle No. 62274. With grilled ribeye steaks under a port-mushroom reduction sauce. 10.18.14. Recommended.
