Ciao,

1. 2013 Guenoc Petite Sirah, CA. $7.99. A total steal at this price, the PS is full of spicy black fruits, a mere hint of vanilla in the finish, and a small touch, barely noticeable, of residual sugar. Grade: solid B.

2. 2009 Women of the Vine, Cabernet, Paso Robles. Close out price $6.99, regularly $13.99. Tasted just like the Peirano Cab from Lodi, big, rich, spicy, black berry fruit, but noticeable sweetness from rs. For those that like it mildly sweet. Grade: B

3. Robert Mondavi, Private Selection, "Coastal Crush Red". $6.99 with coupon. Again, has noticeable rs sweetness to it, although lots of ripe black fruits as well. Does everyone have to be Apothic Red nowadays? Grade: Drinkable.

4. Also tasted the RMPS Chard, Cab and Pinot in store. Not bad, especially for the discount price of $6.99 The reds were noticeably drier than the "CCR" and MUCH better than the awful Zin.

5. 2013 Matua Sauvignon Blanc and their 2013 Pinot Noir were both very tasty and a bargain at $10.99. Grade: solid B and solid B. Also the '13 SB and '12 PN from Oyster Bay were fine, solid B/B+ for both.

6. Geyser Peak SB ($9.99), Cabernet and Pinot Noir (both $12.99) are very nice wines and real QPR. The Cab is mostly Alexander Valley fruit. All are CA appellations. Grade: B+ for all.

7. 2012 Erath Pinot Noir (OR), $17.99, is delicious, with a real noticeable purity of red cherry fruit without the gaminess of the typical CA Pinot. Grade: A-

8. 2013 Sutter Home Chenin Blanc, 1.5 L., $5.99 with rebate. Sugar water. Grade: Barely drinkable.
