2010 G.D. Vajra Barbera d’Alba Superiore

Went to a Vajra tasting.

How people can tell anything about young nebbiolo is beyond me. Tasted the 2010 Vajra Albe Barolo and the 2008 Baudana Barolo (made by Vajra) and they weren't giving up much despite the staff comment about how amazingly open the Barolo was, due to a X hour decant!

The 2010 G.D. Vajra Barbera d’Alba Superiore is Barbera from the Bricco del Viole vineyard and a vineyard in Sinio which is just outside the Barolo border and next to the Serralunga district of Barolo. This is amazing Barbera. You could so taste Serralunga in this Barbera. Rich, concentrated, powerful and deep. Iron, minerals, blood. Wow. I never have gotten much out of pours at commercial tasting until this wine. It only took a sip to convince me. Read the Cellartracker notes for this wine. Lots of big scores for a Barbera. I would have bought a bottle but the $38 price tag for a Barbera was a sight I just couldn't pull out my wallet for. Probably very worth it though.

Thanks
