I had this again. It seems like the first bottle was corked because this one was much more lively and had some nice fruit. Upon opening, very poignant nose which dissipated some. This wine had some striking aspects - very intense and concentrated, poignant on the palate with some black cherry, some sharp tannic structure, sharp acidity and very drying. Sometimes....

This wine was uneven and inconsistent over two days. It showed flashes of being a wonderful wine at the riserva level but most of the time it was not very striking...i.e. not riserva level. I find it hard to judge whether it will keep or get better. It did show a little bit better on the second day. But it also tastes like it's losing its edge and becoming flaccid. The color seemed very advanced. Enjoyable but not a wine I would re-purchase. Based on my experiences, I wouldn't purchase any more Pio Cesare wines.

Thanks
