Ciao,

Was home with my sister and bil in Joisey for the weekend and on Sunday night, to go with a great barbequed butterflied leg of lamb I cracked the 96 "Pora" from my stash in their basement.

Good cork. Slight sediment removed when decanted. Left to breath for three hours. The color is a slightly "muddy" brick/orange, not as vibrant as I hoped for, but still healthy and typical for 20 year old Barbaresco, I think. A big nose of smoky, earthy raspberry/cherry/orange peel, incense, very attractive. On the palate, intense, flavorful, red/orange fruit, acidity a touch high, the only "flaw", yet with the lamb it was not even noticeable. Slight tannins, long finish, a very nice Barbaresco, just not the great bottle I was hoping for. (the bottle I had in November of last year WAS that bottle.
