The 2011 Fattoria del Cerro, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, $17.99, was a real dud. The previous vintage was quite tasty, but this tasted dead to me, no fruit and a lot of "dirty wood". Big disappointment. Grade: D for Dead.
The 2013 Cafaggio Chianti Classico, "Single Estate" ($16.99) is a very nice CC with spicy, earthy cherry fruit, medium body, very good acidity and a tasty finish. True to type, just lacks the intensity and depth I hope for from Cafaggio. Grade: solid B.
