Loring Wine Company Rosella’s Vineyard Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Barbara Ca. 2014
The classic Loring Yellow of deep yellow gold delights and invites the eye. But the exuberance seems to end there. Unlike other Loring Chards, this wine shows less enthusiasm for big, bold bouquet and flavors. Yes, the baked apple spices and golden yellow apple appear, but where is the pie crust and yeast? On the second night the wine shows a bit better with some faint coconut elements, but that was as exciting as it ever became. 14.3% alc. With oyster puffs (not a good pairing) and peanut soup (ok pairing) on Saturday night and then half the bottle on Sunday with sweet potato stuffed, home-made ravioli in a sausage cream sauce (nice paring). 03.04-5.17. Recommended with Reservations.
