A month ago I pulled the 2001 Aca Modot (tasting note is here: 2001 Aca Modot ) Tonight I tried the 2005. This was a screwcap instead of the artificial cork David used to use. Whether that had any effect, I don't know, but this wine was in a perfect place. Ripe, red fruit on the nose, vibrant red in color. Red berry flavors, currant, a bit of licorice, just a hint of spice. Smooth, polished tannins and lovely acidity. Everything is in balance. The finish is long and a bit darker than the rest of the palate and spicier. A lovely wine right now, I can't imagine it getting any better. 14.1% ABV. 64% Cabernet, 14% Cab Franc, 14% Merlot, and 8% Petite Verdot (for Dave, a pretty conventional blend!). A-

Dave's wines with the artificial cork have been kinda hit or miss. Not had any problems w/ screwcap ones, though.
