Tried this wine last night w/ my pasta:
1. BlackSwift Calif Red Blend (15.5%; 80% Syrah/20% Grenache) Winemaker: CarolinaBistue/Winters 2015: Med.color; strong fragrant plummy/blackberry/Syrah slight strawberry/Grenache fairly attractive nose; rather soft slight tangy/metallic rather earthy/plummy/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry slight mushroomy flavor w/ light gentle tannins; long soft plummy/blackberry/Syrah/strawberry ripe bit soupy finish w/ light ripe/smooth tannins; an altogether pleasant bit simple/soupy Syrah/Grenache blend of the level of the TablasCreek Patelan. $24.00 (AV)

1. A bit confusing here. BlackSwift is named after the black swift birds common in the USofA. There is also a Black Swift wnry that makes wines from the OkanoganVlly in BritishColumbia. No relation that I can tell. Presumably, the grapes for this wine came from Winters, in SolanoCnty just West of Davis. Not much info out there on Carolina Bistue.
