Pommier, Domaine Isabelle et Denis
Burgundy, France
Flat worn gold color, but what's there extends fully from core to rims, basic appearance. The nose is pungent with a smoky kick, lemon zest, pineapple, star fruit and green apple scents, sauna stones, as it warms develops a grassy streak, real "bruiser" mentality. Full-bodied, good plus level acidity which keeps it humming along. Although that white grapefruit, lemon, lime citrus as well as pineapple, papaya, nectarine fruit needs no support, ample verve on their own. Smoky and chalky with a saline unto pickle brine edge. Despite all this, it's ripe and has a tiny yet persistent core of sweetness. Drinking very youthfully yet its energy and inability to stay put the major part of its charm today.
