That has been the "conventional wisdom" since my first Barolo and Barbaresco in the early 80's. I wonder if it still holds true (if it ever did) after all the new technology and style revisions of the past 30 years? Also, I have had many Barbarescos over the years that could easily have passed for a "forceful, powerful" Barolo, and Barolos that were more Barbaresco like in character, especially the "new wave" style wines.
