Davis Family Vineyards
Russian River Valley, California
Clear, ruby in hue and starting to show some bricking, full rims with no color loss. The raspberry, strawberry to cranberry fruit scents have a hard candy, syrupy sort of concentration to them, pressed flowers, light touch of wet wool as well as orange pekoe tea, pure to the point of simplicity. Medium-bodied, quite fluid and similar to the olfactory experience. Here though milk chocolate and a much larger orange to white grapefruit citrus appear first. Then it's a smooth, measured release of that candied raspberry, red cherry, watermelon to strawberry fruit. No tannin nor acidity to speak of. Huge floral perfume develops as it opens. Toastier through the finish. Any earthiness dry like an old dirt back road. Straightforward pleasure wine. 53% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre.
