La Goujonne
Vieilles Vignes
Pinot Noir
Bright ruby with a slight zinc tint at the rims, nicely transparent, fills out quite well. Noticeably herbaceous nose, stony as well, damp earth, you have to do some digging to get at the ripe cherry, blackberry fruit of which there is no lack, mild citrus but this is all about the "sous bois." Medium-bodied, dry to dusty and fairly tannic, chewy mouth feel, not unmannered but would not call it genteel. The orange, lemon citrus more pronounced with consistently juicy blackberry, cherry fruit. Leather, tar, graphite, tea leaf more than green leafy matter. Spicy finish emphasizing ginger, cumin, almost clove spice. Drinking optimally, can't imagine desirable tertiary elements will replace the buoyancy of the fruit of today.
