2006 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Some folks still make cab they way they used to do in Napa. Cathy Corison is one. This is her entry level bottling and it's lovely. A nose of currants and smoke and leather. Deep red in color. Currants, blackberries, dark cherry flavors flood the palate. Tannins still in evidence but not overpowering the fruit. Sweet tobacco flavors. Nice acidity. The flavors cascade across the palate and finish long and lovely. 13.8% ABV. OK, not a profound wine, but a lovely example of the varietal and a genuine pleasure to drink. Nowhere near the end of its life either, this wine can still improve for the next 5 to 10 years. B+
