Time has dulled the purple in the core allowing for more crimson and brick red hues, the rims brighter with a metallic red to orange cast. When first opened the nose all but completely creamy oak scents, slowly turns to grilled meat fat, black tea leaf and eucalyptus, still a decent amount of plum, cassis fruit but by the same token appears to have faded some, hard to say the years have blessed it with any tertiary development. Medium-bodied, leads with creamy oak of vanilla, butterscotch and molasses. Acidity level is okay but no tannic presence. Diminished blackberry, boysenberry, cherry fruit but you can tell it was a fruit bomb in its youth. Spiced orange, eucalyptus and violets round it out. Was probably at its best 5-7 years ago. Drinks nicely but not likely to ever offer much tertiary development.
