Spotless blood red to orange rust in color with yellow rims, pleasingly sleek surface. The nose oozes tar, graphite, animal sweat, charred wood and pine forest floor matter, concentrated maraschino cherry to raspberry jam scents, has that good kind of funkiness and the lift shows staying power. Medium-bodied, lighter touch than expected. The tannin mostly resolved but the acidity still throbs. Twiggy, leafy with consistent tarry earthiness, creates a black smoke mouth perfume. The puckering cherry, raspberry to strawberry fruit pushed further by sour white grapefruit accents. In the end the leafiness wins out over the fruit.

ArPePe is one of my favorite producers in the Valtelline, Marc. Sounds pretty much about where I'd expect it to be. Too bad their wines are so expensive, though.
