Theron, Domaine de
Southwest France, France
Good depth and glow to the purple core, spotless rust red rims, fresh and a touch foreboding. Strong cherry, blackberry scents to the nose, potpourri, incense, muddy earth, no funkiness, needs to be at room temperature to really show any expressiveness. Medium-bodied, juicy and with the needed tannin to keep it in shape and alert. More cedar, sandalwood to sage accents, momentary mixed white citrus bursts. There's a savory patina to the blackberry, blueberry, black cherry fruit, sinewy as well as juicy. Echoes of vanillin oak and cocoa help add roundness. Acidic and fresh finish. Feels like it's in a place where all the elements are working in concert. So, while not profound, quite satisfying.
