Occhipinti Siccagno Nero d’Avaola Sicilia 2010

Moving some bottles around the cellar several weeks back to consolidate and de-frag, my hand suddenly looked as if it was cut; a deep red coating my palm yet no slice into the skin. Retracing my movements, I found the source, weeping in a row of Italian wines. Sure ‘nough, leeching through the wax capsule, this bottle was giving its all. I set it aside (and upright) to make the most of it at some point. Its time came when some pork chops found their way on the grill. A deep hued ruby carried the flavors of cranberry, tart cherry, cloves, nutmeg, tangerine zest and tar. The finish segues to roses. The tannins are fully integrated. This is the best weeper I’ve ever tasted. Sediment coats the inside of the bottle. 13% alc. With grilled ancho chili pork chops. 08.16.18. Recommended.
