Santa Barbara County, California
Colson Canyon Vineyard
Dark purple core with fiery rust red rims, more filmy than spotless. You get blueberry, boysenberry fruit in the nose, a touch of flowers than tar and muddy earth, not a lot of length to it. Medium-bodied, right away the volatile acidity creates a pervasive pickled, vinegary sourness as well as tingly fizziness across the tongue. Animal fur, leather and minerally black earth, it never calms down sufficiently for the exceedingly ripe blueberry, blackberry to plum fruit to shine. About half a glass in there's no sense in going forward, the volatility is just too much. There was a pleasingly juicy wine in there somewhere.

Note: Worst wine I have had this year and big disappointment given how much I enjoyed Tensley wines in the past. Really hope this is just an off bottle and not indicative of a winery move towards more "natural" winemaking, hah.
