Mercurey 1er Cru
Les Vasees
Pinot Noir
Dark red ruby to purple, clean and clear, the core not close to opacity, rims a light crimson shade. The nose displays a touch of merde and tart herbaceousness, very good snap to the red cherry, cranberry, raspberry scents, stony and feels dry, leaves an impression of cloaked florality. Medium-bodied, clean, fresh and firm, not particularly expressive and no over oak presence although it's supposed to see 50% new oak during elevage. Lemony and stony, here too it's dry and with an added acidic clamp down. You get a good bit of violets and it's "pretty" even if the sour cherry, red berry fruit remains reticent. Could consider it mildly shut down. In any event, has room to smooth out and integrate more, good value.
