Shiny and resplendent maroon to crimson color, utterly spotless and buffed to a high gloss, no drop off around the rims. The nose starts off reticent but over time relents to present anise, violets, pulped orange and countervailing merde, the cherry, mixed berry fruit scents angular but not unfriendly, rewards patience in the glass. Medium-bodied, in the mouth it starts off a bit more open and thus the contrast over time is less pronounced. The acidity slashes out and it can be rough at times but the sour cherry, cranberry to raspberry fruit as well as white citrus holds it together well enough and the fruit could almost be sappy were it not washed away by said acidity. Not green nor grassy but stony with a parched earth character. Rugged honesty, one of those country styled wines you drink with chunks of a baguette and slabs of cheese.
