My new Castelli's came in last week, so I shared one at BBB Thurs:
1. Castelli Nebbiolo Estate/GreenVlly/RRV/SonomaCnty (14.1%; Dry Farmed; U/U; Aged: neutral Fr.oak for 48 mo;
80 cs) 2013
: Med.color; lovely floral/lilacs/violets/Nebb very aromatic/perfumed very light pungent/tarry/licorice/spicy beautiful classic Nebb nose; quite tart/tangy/bracing strong floral/lilacs/violets/rose petal/Nebb/very spicy very light tarry/pungent some rich bit complex flavor w/ modest tart/wiry tannins; very long/lingering very strong floral/rose petal/lilacs/violets slight earthy/tarry/pungent bit rich bit complex finish w/ modest chewey tannins; seems a bit more balanced & rich than previous ones on not that hard/bitey tannins of those from Piemonte; more like a very good Valtelline Nebb than anything. $34.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is, of course, the Nebb of Emilio Castelli, up in the GreenVlly area of SonomaCnty. He farms by Fukuoka and has one of the ugliest vnyds in the entire area. It is consistently one of the best Nebbs at out NEB gatherings. His original vnyd was planted right out front of his HarrisonGradeRd home. A few miles away to the West & East, he helped plant a second Nebb vnyd that he now farms himself and includes in his estate Nebb bttling, increasing his production of the Estate.
Very reasonably priced for Nebb unless you can only drink B/B and are willing to spend the $$'s.
