2015 La Staffa Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Selva Di Sotto

An object lesson in time and temperature. Opened and served immediately at cellar temperature, this wine seemed pleasant but that's all. As it sat in the glass and approached room temperature, it changed completely. Lemon yellow in color. A pleasant nose of lime zest. On the palate it was complex and lovely, pear, honey, warm spices, citrus, loads of minerality. On the midpalate sharper spice notes enter and a distinct saline note. Bright acidity that covers the palate. Long, long finish of lemons and limes, minerals. An elegant wine that pairs well with the swordfish we served it with. 14% ABV. Definitely needs to be near room temperature and have some air. I'd decant this for sure next time. "A"
