2005 Xavier Clua Mil.lennium Terre Alta

60% Grenache/20% Cabernet Sauvignon/15% Syrah/5% Merlot. This has an almost Bordeaux like quality. Faintly red fruited and cedar nose. Plump red fruits, cherries at first, then deepening to blackberry. The fruit is elegant but the slightest fading has started. Smooth tannins, very nice acidity and balance. Some plum notes on the mid-palate. The finish is a bit short but nice with red fruits and black pepper. Gains in brightness and depth with food (lamb loin chops). Probably 3 years or so past prime, but still elegant and pleasurable. I'd drink these over the next 2 to 3 years. "B+"

2011 En Numeros Vermells Priorat

Primarily Grenache if I recall correctly. Deep red currants on the nose. Deep, vibrant fruit on the palate, cherries, currants, spice, tobacco. Perfectly balanced acidity, firm tannins. Finishes fairly long and bright. Needs 3 to 4 years to peak and will hold for 5+ years beyond that. "A"
