2001 Lagier Meredith Syrah Mount Veeder

Deep purple color with the slightest fading at the edges. Aromas of roasted meats and plums on the nose. The palate shows ripe red fruits, rare roast beef, anise, blueberries. The tannins are still firm, but soften with air. Perhaps a year or two more could help. Nice acidity. The wine quickly brightens with air and comes into a beautiful balance. Long finish with notes of anise and blueberries. Lovely, but perhaps could still improve for another 2 years. "A"
