Tried this ugly wine last night:
1. Forlorn-Hope Ost-Intrigen St.Laurent RicciVnyd/Carneros (9.64%; 125 cs) Murphys 2015: Med.light color; quite earthy/loamy/metallic ozone/reductive/burning steel wool rather pungent little fruit quite strange/unattractive nose; very acidic/screechy/steely/metallic rather earthy/loamy very lean/eviscerated unattractive/hurtey flavor w/ light tangy/bitey tannins; long very acidic/screechy rather earthy/loamy pungent/burning steel wool/WWII beacon/ozone no fruit finish w/ light bitey tannins; smells/tastes like a red wine made from woefully underripe grapes; a wine that should have never been made.; ugly stuff that hurts on the palate; likely never get any better than its miserable current state.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. MattRorick was the first to make St.Laurent from the RicciVnyd in Carneros. It's a small plot of St.L than now a few other wineries have drawn from. About the 3'rd year, Matt didn't get any St.L from Ricci. Someone came in in the dead of night & stole the entire crop, probably assuming they were getting some primo PinotNoir. Boy...were they in for a surprise.
Why this wine was made totally mystifies me. The grapes were woefully underripe to make a red this low in alcohol. By & large, I've liked Matt's rendition of St.L. This was not one of them.
